Taurus Gc2 9mm - Tons of Americans understand the importance of firearms ownership at this time (summer 2020.) Most of the people are training for the first time - or at least a handgun for the first time. Of all the things you need to think about when choosing a weapon, price is usually the most important. We all want the best bang for our buck, and we'll settle for what we think is the most reliable. One of the less expensive pistol options is the Taurus G2C 9mm – which I will cover in this review.

The Taurus G2C is a Brazilian made, compact double barrel derivative of the Taurus PT111 Millennium G2. This gun is offered in 9mm Luger and 40 S&W. Taurus makes about 20 different models of the G2C — from the matte black model we used in our review to a gun available in just about any color you can dream up. From the outside, it's easy to see why this rifle is so popular. Its compact size and small price tag make it hard to pass up.

The Taurus isn't exactly a saint in the gun realm, so I thought it was worth addressing. Some love them and some don't. The previous half point has had quality control issues over the years that have led to unreliability. Although Taurus has had quality control issues in the past, I will point out that many people speak highly of their customer service and willingness to solve problems.

It's hard to fault a gun with a cheap price tag. The saying “you get what you pay for” often applies to the gun industry. The Taurus G2C is (in my opinion) a hidden entry level for those who can't or aren't willing to spend more. For reference, most guns in the same category will cost upwards of $500.

The Taurus offers an improved text grip, active thumb safety, gear rail and excellent 12+1 capability in G2C. The "feel in the hand" achieved with the Taurus G2C is not that good from my perspective - although I compare it to some of the main market options.

When I saw the Taurus G2C in person, I expected less for the price. It's not a pretty gun, but it's not bad either. The grip is very well cut and feels good in my hands - good start here.

I've been getting up close with the Taurus G2C lately and have fired hundreds of rounds of several types of ammo through it. The G2C handled all the weapons I gave it without a problem - including some popular personal defense rings. The recoil is a little more than I usually experience from guns of this caliber but overall not terrible.

One problem I ran into when firing the gun was the guard. The trigger guard seems to dig into my right index finger (the main one) at the index finger when I try to grip it. I believe that's partly because the security guard made it more confusing - something I'll touch on a bit later in this review.

The paper was not published in G2C as immaterial. Obviously, this prevents left-handed shooters. As for the diary, I am quite satisfied with it with no problems with its use. I will say that the version is a bit on the small side and a bit sharp on the sides - not a big deal but worth noting.

Working on the outside turned out to be much easier - although I did find the sliding solution a bit tricky. I don't want to see a manual safety on a CCW gun like the one found on the G2C, but it can be had.

For a gun in this price range, I don't expect much in terms of sights and triggers. My experience with both has been uneventful during my time at G2C. I didn't think the sights were terrible, but the trigger wasn't the best of the guns I tried.

Retrieving and retrieving the target after paint can handle industrial targets. The classic three-point base is found in G2C - which turned out to be perfect. As with most product reviews, you won't find this goodie in any low-end shooting range.

The trigger on G2C is something I'm not a fan of. I might have fired a geek gun before with better parts - yes, it was bad. One of the unique features of G2C triggers is that they are reactive. I can see how this could be useful in some situations - although I don't think it's necessary.

I got a long trigger that was about 5 pounds with a wall and it broke right at the back of the cover. While it may not hurt some issues, this type of trigger is painful for me to work. The trigger didn't seem to break until it was back on the cover so I had to press hard with my finger.

Although I can't really tell that it connects, the viewer seems to be playing with my main hand when I turn this on. I believe longer travel (along with lower than normal trigger protection) contributes to the discomfort.

While at the range, I was able to take the time to test the G2C's muzzle velocity using a well-known personal defense um- Hornady 124 gr. XTP. As I usually do for these types of tests, I took 5 shots which were analyzed by the Labrador device.

For reference, Hornady advertises a muzzle velocity of 1,110 feet per second in a 4-inch barrel for a 124 gr. XTP.

My tests showed an average muzzle velocity of 1,052 feet per second with the G2C. With a 3.2 inch barrel, the results are quite predictable. For those who want to see a little more information about my muzzleloader test, I have provided the following data.

When it comes to accuracy, I usually avoid going for it as it depends on the shooter. I am very confident with the accuracy of the G2C indicator and can put good shots on target within self defense range. Running the G2C fast and keeping up seems a bit more difficult than I'm used to with a weapon of this size. I'm guessing the length of the magnet affects the experience.

In the crowded market of handguns, from low end to high end, individuals often choose what they believe to be the best balance of price and quality. G2C has a position at the top - although many would say at a low level.

If a $200 gun is all you can afford, I feel good after shooting it that the G2C will get the job done and work when needed. That said, I would hardly spend that $200-$250 on a G2C. Some of the other popular options on the market have a stimulating effect, ergonomics and ultimately good build quality, not far from this price tag. If you only have $200 - $250 to spend and don't have time to save more, I would spend that money on a well maintained used firearm. The business is there.

I'm sure this option will continue to be a popular seller and I can understand the number of guns received for the price. For myself and I'm sure for many others, trusting my life to a weapon that is built to be cheap is not appealing.
